An innovative single-instrument platform for microplate reading and real-time cell imaging replaces multiple modules and software interfaces, yet is simple to set up and operate. Now the second-generation includes added functionality that further enhances the high performance of both the microscopy and microplate modes.

The new Cytation 5 Cell Imaging Multi-Mode Reader is from BioTek Instruments (Winooski, VT, USA), a leader in microplate instrumentation and software to enable sensitive, accurate quantification of molecules across diverse applications with rapid, cost-effective analysis. Cytation 5 is a uniquely integrated, configurable system that combines automated digital widefield microscopy with conventional microplate multimode detection to provide phenotypic cellular information and well-based quantitative data.

Cytation 5's microscopy module provides high quality cellular and sub-cellular visualization up to 60x magnification in fluorescence, brightfield, H&E (hematoxylin & eosin stain), and phase-contrast imaging channels. It also enables time-lapse cell imaging. The multi-mode microplate reading module, equipped with BioTek’s patented Hybrid Technology, includes variable bandwidth quad monochromators, high-sensitivity filter-based detection, and laser-based Alpha-assay detection for unmatched versatility and performance.

Cytation 5 also includes temperature control to 65 °C, shaking, CO2/O2 control, dual reagent injectors, as well as Gen5 software specifically designed to make sample detection, image capture, and analysis quick and effortless even for complex assays.

"Cytation 5's multi-mode capabilities are a culmination of years of experience and proven technologies. Combined with the imaging modules, Cytation 5 is the most extraordinary multimode reader available today," said Gary Barush, BioTek’s director of Marketing & Sales.
